About the Past AEC Project

Asia Europe Class Room Project

"About the past" is for students to investigate certain events in history by collecting oral evidence from observers and participants in that event.

Your About the Past AEC Project

"About the past" is for students to investigate certain events in history by collecting oral evidence from observers and participants in that event. As the emphasis is on oral history, the project allows students to have a first-hand experience in social history. Students are also expected to complement the evidence from their oral interviews with archival research work. They can visit the library to obtain information on their subject matter. "About the past" aims to achieve greater inter-generational bonding by having students to interview members of the older generations and emphasize with what the older generations have gone through in the past.

Asia-Europe Classroom (AEC) Asia-Europe Foundation

We are sharing one world.
Why don't we share a classroom in cyberspace?

Conceived in 1998, the Asia-Europe Classroom (AEC) is a unique structure that connects secondary or high schools in Asia and Europe. Through its activities, the AEC provides opportunities for collaborative learning and intercultural exchanges. It is a cyber-classroom shared by students and teachers to build stronger bi-regional networks and partnerships in the course of implementing common online projects and participating in face-to-face exchanges. In early 2006, the Asia-Europe Classroom was renamed as the
Asia-Europe Classroom Network (AEC-NET).

Our Interview Experience

A couple of weeks ago me and my group members conducted an interview with Mrs Joy Tan, the subject head of History in our school and it was certainly an experience!

Not only were we to prepare the questions to ask her, but we had to edit our own interview!
The teachers conducted a few workshops but that's nothing compared to the moment your have to do it for real.
On top of that, we had to meet up with Mrs Tan a couple of times because of different technical difficulties that plagued the whole… Continue

Trip to the National Archives of Singapore

On the 11th of January 2008, eight students, accompanied by two teachers, from Millennia Institute went to the National Archives of Singapore (NAS) to find out more about what exactly goes on there.

Did you know that the building that currently houses the NAS was originally a school? It was once upon a time home to the Anglo-Chinese School's first campus, located in the Heart of Singapore's Central District. Anyway, back to the NAS. The National Archives of Singapore records and st

Hi everyone,

You are invited to read the blogs describing the experiences of the students of Millennia Institute at the National Archives of Singapore. Just drop by the Forum to look for the posts.

The National Archives of Singapore (NAS) is the official custodian of the Singapore government's corporate memory. To fill gaps in the nation's history, NAS also acquires records from private sources. The rich holdings of archives form an important part of Singapore's heritage for enjoyment by the present and future generations of Singaporeans through exhibitions, outreach and publication programmes.
